Douglas A. Tibbs Arrested for Prescription Drug Burglaries

A former deputy of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Douglas A. Tibbs, was arrested today at his attorney’s office for burglaries  arising from his apparent addiction to prescription medications.  Tibbs, 34 years of age, had been employed by the Sheriff’s Office since January 2004.  He resigned earlier this week at the commencement of a criminal investigation arising from prescription drug burglaries at a family friend’s residence.  Tibbs had been assigned to the Crime Stoppers Unit.

Prior to the arrest, Tibbs confessed to the burglaries and blamed his addiction on prescription pain medication for the crimes.  Tibbs was charged with two counts of burglary, one count of theft, and one count of possession of a controlled substance.  He is currently being held at the Arrestee Processing Center.
